Gross Motor Activity

I think teachers pay teachers has become my favorite website.  It seems like no matter what I'm looking for, I can always find it.  This time I was looking for adaptive physical education activities.  In my classroom I have a wide range of different types of students with different types of disabilities.  It's always nice to have activities for those students who become sensory over loaded or just need some movement.  I thought I would try this activity on a student who has been having some rough time and I wanted to see her laugh and her smile again.  I picked out four different cards: bear crawl, frog jump and the crab walk.  At first, I don't think she really knew what to do.  I turned on The Gummy Bear song and let me tell you that the song is pretty catchy.  Once we started, I had to demonstrate for her and then she would try it.  Then we started completing the activities together.  She begin to giggle and smile.  Once she got the hang of things, she then thought it was funny to race me or cut me off.  I'm thinking this was the trick to get her laughing again.  I had her paraprofessional video tape us completing the activities (feel free to laugh, because I sure did.)  First I'm going to show you pictures of the cards and also where I have it hung up in my room, so that it's easily accessible for other people in my classroom.

Here are the pictures....

Now, here is the video
